Lockyer Arts Festival

Our encore event in September will highlight local talent and feature a headline performer... who will win the Battle of the Bands and who will star?

With the conclusion of January's festival comes an exciting encore...

We are doing it all again in September!

Famous authors and illustrators from around the country will arrive in the quaint township of Laidley to work closely with school students in the areas of story telling, illustrating, song writing, poetry and prose. Adults can book into private workshops to learn the art of becomming published.

The festival will conclude with a community concert featuring local musicians... which means another Battle of the Bands competition.

Partnering with Tell Me A Story Books and LEAPP Events, the Lockyer Arts Festival 2012 Encore is running an Arts Competition from January 28 - March 31. With the theme of "Water and Ice", primary, secondary students and Adults can enter 2D and 3D art, short stories and poetry.

ALL entries will be PUBLISHED.

Winners in each category will receive a one on one session with our guest artists to recite, perform and/or publish their work professionally.

2011 Winners Are: Julia Davidson of The Gap - Music Composition; Mackenzie Taylor of Brassall - Art; Sue Stewart - Writing; Ethan Freeman of Gatton - Colouring Competition; Toby Wedlock of Hatton Vale - Colouring Competition; Jeremy Wilkin of Grantham - Colouring Competition; Chloe Wiemers of Gatton - Colouring Competition; Rheanna Leschke - Battle of the Bands Competition; Dylan Coles of Un Dia Antes - Battle of the Bands Competition; Gilbert Michael Franky Meyers of Un Dia Antes - Battle of the Bands Competition; Nick Zischke of Un Dia Antes - Battle of the Bands Competition. Winners of the Battle of the Bands featured in the Marcia Hines concert; Colouring competition winners received signed books by Michael Salmon. All other winners will have their work published in an anthology.
